Heuvel Galerie, Eindhoven, Netherlands

Designed by Walter Brune in the 1980s, the Heuvel Galerie underwent a significant redevelopment to re-establish the centre as the primary shopping destination in the region. Working closely with architects Dunnett Craven, StudioFractal completed comprehensive lighting designs linking the new areas of development with refurbished pre-existing zones. The lighting supports the minimalist aesthetic, washing surfaces with continuous lines of light to provide a clean enhancement of the materials and architectural form.

Following the strategic improvements, Heuvel Eindhoven won the BREEAM prize in the 'retail-in-use' category and was named the most sustainable shopping centre in the Netherlands.
