The successful integration of light and statement colour throughout the new £150 million expansion of the North Terminal at London Gatwick; has created a vibrant and welcoming environment for users of this major international airport. The development includes a new state of the art passenger and transport interchange, departures and arrivals concourse extension and a new multi-storey car park.

Extensive use of LED technology and simplified lighting details permitted the design to be installed in record time.

The lighting design for the check-in and baggage reclaim hall at London Gatwick's North Terminal focused heavily on the customised retrofit solution for the ceiling. The careful integration of new lighting technology with existing infrastructure saved the airport 54 per cent in energy usage while reducing maintenance and minimising waste. The repurposed fittings not only provide the required amenity lighting but provide each soffit recess with an upward wash of intense blue, injecting the hall with a vibrant ambience and colour.
